Cardiff For Ukraine – Ukrainian Hub Cymru Wales

Cardiff For Ukraine – Ukrainian Hub Cymru Wales

Cardiff For Ukraine The Independence Day

About the Organisation

Cardiff For Ukraine is a charitable organisation founded in March 2022, following the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. It was initiated by Helen McAdie, whose initial aim was to support Ukrainian refugees arriving in Wales through the Homes4Ukraine scheme and to organise the delivery of humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

By summer 2022, a Ukrainian Hub Cymru Wales was established in Cardiff. Originally conceived as a resource centre for Ukrainian refugees, it has since evolved into a vibrant cultural space—a welcoming place where anyone who supports Ukraine can find help, advice, material resources, and opportunities to develop their talents and bring creative ideas to life.

Helen brought together a strong and dedicated team of Welsh and Ukrainian volunteers, whose combined efforts have enabled the Hub to take on increasingly ambitious projects and support a growing community.

Activities and Impact

The Ukrainian Hub now hosts a wide range of activities, including workshops, creative sessions, and educational programmes. It is home to a Ukrainian-language library with over a thousand titles. The Hub also facilitates consultations with Cardiff Council representatives, legal advisors, and local politicians, and runs numerous cultural and educational events.

These initiatives aim to foster well-being, provide psychological support, promote healing through the arts, and simply uplift the community through joy and connection.
